An African adage says ' What an elder can see while seated, even if a youth climbs the tallest trees, cannot see'
Africans are known for the respect they have for elders which is why i have writen about some health tips that will lenghten the days of our elders.....
First of all i will advice that you see your doctor for the prescription of drugs that suit your condition.
1. Always take your medication: it is natural for Papa and Mama to ignore or shun their medications as prescribed by their doctors,so setting an electronic reminder will help them to be prompt on taking their medications.
2. See your doctor often: it is imperative that you see your doctor atleast once a week.this is so important because you tend to sometimes ignore or even try to manage some pains and aches on our bodies and we say....'dont worry about me,i'll be better soon'. Do not play with your health, keep doing number (1) above and if it persist,go see your doctor.
3. Know your shortcomings or limitations : as a senior aged person, you ought to know that you no longer have the strength to do lots of things like you used to while you were younger. So quit doing what you should not!
4. Eliminate unhealthy habits: do not go on doing what you were adviced not to do ...
5. Do not smoke: lots of senior aged folks think that smoking is a "must do" affair, but it will do you no good but harm.diseases caused by tobacco are: high blood pressure, strock and heart attack etc.
6. Exercise the more: don't just sit there from morning to night.
Find out time to exercise yourself e.g trekking, etc.
7. Balance your diet: ensure that you eat the right food at all times.
Comsume more of vegetables.
8. Stay close to God: last but not least, ensure that you have a close relationship with your maker,so that you will find rest in him when the inevitable comes.
Do live long our elders.....
