Opportunity is defined as a chance for advancement, progress or profit.
This is true, but the shocker is that opportunities don't come to you sometimes, you are the one that need to go out there in search for them.
Take for example a plane about to take off at the airport, that very plane will not wait or stop for anyone the very moment it begins to move, the same applies to opportunities, they are like seasons, they come and go,and to be able to sieze them you must.......
1. Be on the look out: Just like the scanners and detectors in a Bank,Park,Airport etc. These gadgets are on the look out for prohibited materials in their designated places e.g bank, airport etc. So also are the eyes, mind, spirit and body of an opportunist. So therefore,to sieze opportunities of whatever sort, you must "be on the look out".
2. Be brave: It took bravery for David to sieze the opportunity of killing Goliath, which in turn promoted him beyond his mates by all standards.
I believe that some of his friends at the time will wish that another Goliath would surface same time next year,so that they could also sieze the opportunity, but the striking thing about opportunities is that they may come once and never come again.
I went to the bank recently to do some transactions and along the process i discovered something intriguing that i will like to share with you......
I dropped from the cab i boarded by the highway which is opposite my bank arena, and because it was a highway, the cars were on their topmost speed to a point that the people planning on crossing to the other side were scared to cross,of course you should know that it is a highway and there are no traffic lights or pedestrian crossings for people.
At that point, it dawned on me that opportunities are like highways, they look impossible, but with boldness and bravery they are achievable.
3. Who is got your back?: David who killed goliath with mere stones and a sling did not do it alone because if he did he would have been fed to the birds of the air as promised by Goliath. But there is something you should take to consideration in his life before he killed the big man-- he proclaimed openly to Goliath who actually got his back,(1Samuel17:37(1Samuel 17:42-47).
So you see, having a Godfather is not a guarantee of getting opportunities, but rather, having God with you is the guarantee(Romans 3:31b).
4. Are you ready yet?: David was very much ready when he confronted Goliath. When told that he couldn't confront the big man,he told tjem about his preparations in tje wilderness.
You need to prepare before you can sieze an opportunity at all (1 Samuel 17:34-36).
The young men and women of this age want to just sit and do nothing and at the end get opportunities--Well it is not so,there must be a preparation process.
An African proverb says--"When preparation meets opportunity, breakthrough occur".
5. Be a risk taker: Just tell me, what in this world has nothing to do with risk?
Risk is part of life,so to sieze opportunities, you must be a risk taker.
David risked his life-he put his life on the line and atlast got his desired opportunity.
