Temptation is defined as pressure applied on one's thinking to create wrong emotions which will in turn lead to wrong actions or decisions.
Before any promotion or lifting, there must be a test to prove that the tested or tempted is qualified for that promotion.
Any position you get to without being tried is not God's best for you.
Job was blessed beyond almost everyone in his region, but it was not recorded whether he was tested for his initial prosperity. But after he was tested and passed,he received what was God's best for him.
So you see, whenever you are tempted it should occur to you that God is cooking something special for you which you can only access after you must have passed the test triumphant.
Here are some facts about temptation you should know.......
#1. There is always a preparation before Temptation: The Bible records that Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, there he fasted 40 days and night... Stop right there!- Now that was his moment of preparation(Matthew 4:1-2).
Joseph was sold to slavery and he learnt the hard ways of life at a tender age (that was his moment of preparation).
This then establishes the fact that no temptation comes to a man that he cannot handle (1 corinthians 10:13) because prior to such temptation, such a fellow must have been prepared for it.
#2. Temptations come based on who you are: The devil's first words to Jesus while tempting him was ..."if you are the son of God.....".
Genesis 39:6c says "Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.....(NKJV)" and that was why he was tempted by his master's wife.
Who you are will determine the kind of temptations that comes to you. Job who was rich was tested with penury/poverty.
This then establishes the fact that temptations come according to your personality and assignment.
#3. Temptations are never satisfied: If you are tempted just but once, then you can't call that temptation at all.
Temptation is like a regular customer that is always knocking until it is satisfied.
I know you might ask ...."if temptations are insatiable, then how do one conquer them?" Well the answer to that is temptations have a time duration depending on who is tempted.
Joseph's master's wife did not come to him just once (Genesis 39:10)
Jesus was tempted multiple times by the devil (Matthew 4:3-10).
This then establishes the fact that temptations will not go away until you pass them.
#4. Your decisions in temptation makes you or destroys you: Know this, that temptation is a test to know whether you qualify for the next level or not. Therefore, whatever decision one makes while tempted will either promote or demote such fellow.
Have the mindset that temptations are exams you must pass to get to the next level and pray for grace to make the right decisions so as to be promoted and not demoted.
Imagine what would have happened if Jesus or Joseph gave in and made the wrong decision...... Just imagine!!!.
#5. There is a reward afterwards: Every temptation comes with a goodie bag which will only be given to worthy persons.
Joseph made the right decision and he became a prime minister in a foreign land. Jesus made the right decision and he is seated at the right hand of the Father.
Know this that if you conquer, you will receive a reward.
This is wow,keep it up
